The Atlantic has named Jeffery Goldberg editor in chief. After nearly ten years writing for The Atlantic and an extensive reporting career with The Washington Post, The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker, Goldberg was chosen out of an estimated 500 proposed candidates across U.S. and U.K. publications to manage the work of The Atlantic staff as it seeks to expand its online presence and grow its audience.

During his tenure at The Atlantic, Goldberg has interviewed world leaders, reported on numerous foreign affairs issues and written 11 cover stories. His most acclaimed cover story, “The Obama Doctrine,” focused on the most challenging decisions that had faced the Obama administration to date. This 21 page cover story, launched as a multimedia report with videos, interactive content and analysis, has been referenced by NPR and National Interest.
