Ann Murphy

Ann Murphy has more than 30 years of experience in public relations with a focus on developing strategic communications programs, media relations, large-scale event communications and crisis communications.

A former journalist, her professional career includes working in print and broadcast news as well as government, political and corporate public relations.

Previously, Ann was a Senior Vice President at O’Neill and Associates prior to its merger with Seven Letter in 2020. Prior to joining O’Neill and Associates, Ann was the director of media relations at Cablevision in Boston, Massachusetts.


Ann also served Press Secretary for Mitt Romney during his 1994 campaign for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, Deputy Press Secretary for Gov. William Weld and Lt. Gov. Paul Cellucci and served as Director of Communications for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.


Ann’s broadcast media experience includes her role as assignment editor at WBZ-TV (now CBS Boston), assistant news director at WBZ radio, and news reporter at radio stations in Brockton, Fitchburg and on Cape Cod. She started her journalism career as a newspaper reporter for the Cape Cod Independent in Buzzards Bay, MA.


Ann is a founding member of the board of the UWIL (UMass Women into Leadership) program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  She is a former member of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, former board member of Bridge Over Troubled Waters and former president and board member of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus. She serves on the board of Under the Tree Foundation, a nonprofit that provides disadvantaged 12-17-year olds with gifts during the holiday season.


In 2021, Ann was recognized by PR News as a “Top Women in PR” for her skill at mentoring public relations professionals.


Ann has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalistic Studies and English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.


She is passionate about the outdoors and her daily walks in the woods, hiking in the mountains, bike riding, skiing and golf.  Yoga keeps her sane.
