Radhika Jones will join Vanity Fair as the editor in chief, becoming the magazine’s first new editor in chief in more than two decades and the first woman to hold that job since Tina Brown helped revive the magazine in the 1980s and early 90s. Jones previously served as editorial director of the New York Times’ book section and deputy managing editor at Time magazine.

Anna Wintour, the editor in chief of Vogue and Condé Nast’s artistic director, welcomed Jones saying, “We are so proud to have a fearless and brilliant editor whose intelligence and curiosity will define the future of Vanity Fair in the years to come.”

Jones is expected to begin on December 11th.
