It may still be 2015, but the New York Times is already bulking up their political news coverage ahead of the 2016 presidential campaign. Joining the Times is Maggie Haberman, long-time political reporter at POLITICO and the New York Post and New York Daily News before that. Haberman will be a presidential campaign correspondent and anchor the First Draft morning newsletter, effective February 15. Said the Times’ Washington, DC bureau chief Carolyn Ryan: “[Maggie] has a natural and unusual gift for breaking news and a deep intelligence and understanding of the rhythms and dynamics of political campaigns. Maggie will … bring analysis and insight to our web report, and help drive our campaign news during the day.”
