Veteran investigative reporter Eric Lichtblau will be joining CNN Investigates to help shape the cable network’s investigative reporting.

After 15 years at both the Los Angeles Times and, most recently, The New York Times, where he has worked since 2002, Lichtblau has covered the Justice Department, terrorism, law enforcement and lobbying. He received the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for national reporting with James Risen for a series on President George W. Bush administration’s secret wiretapping program. He’s also the author of two books, Bush’s Law: The Remaking of American Justice and The Nazis Next Door: How America Became a Safe Haven for Hitler’s Men.

His formal role at CNN will be assistant managing editor at CNN’s Washington bureau but in a memo, Executive Editor of CNN Investigates Lex Haris described Lichtblau as a “player-coach” stating, “Eric will guide our coverage and thinking on both short-term scoops and long-term projects.” In addition to reporting and writing his own scoops, Lichtblau will coordinate with the CNN Investigates team, as well as other teams in the Washington bureau, according to the Washington Post.
