FiveThirtyEight Moving to ABC News

04.18.18

The data-focused news site FiveThirtyEight, founded by Nate Silver back in 2008, will join ABC News later this year, leaving ESPN – though staying in the Walt Disney Family. After five years at ESPN, the site will shift away from sports and return to its roots by flexing its analytical storytelling muscles in the political news world. At a time when audiences are increasingly skeptical of what they read online, FiveThirtyEight, with its focus on data and statistics, may be able to carve a unique niche for itself in this era of “#fakenews.”
