Jim Tankersley Adds Econ Heft to New York Times DC Bureau

Economics and politics writer Jim Tankersley is headed to the New York Times Washington bureau. Tankersley, who most recently edited policy and politics reporting at Voxwill be a tax and economics reporter for the Times.

Tankersley has deep experience writing about the economy, politics and impacts of policy on the American people. Prior to his time at Vox, Tankersley reported on economic policy for The Washington Post and National Journal, including leading a team of story tellers focused on the human impact of economic policy while at the Post.

He has also covered politics – including the 2008 presidential campaign and Congress for the DC bureau of the Chicago Tribune, and in roles for The Oregonian (in his home state), the Rocky Mountain News and Toledo Blade, where he won journalism awards and was part of a team that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

His fellow reporters praised the move on Twitter, including new colleagues at the Times.
