Reporters Kate Bennett and Hunter Schwarz will be joining CNN Politics’ White House team, serving as reporters as well as the authors of a new newsletter for CNN.

Bennett and Schwarz join CNN Politics from The Independent Journal Review where they co-wrote IJR’s The Political Edit newsletter which blended style, gossip and political news – elements CNN expects to replicate in the forthcoming Bennett-Schwarz newsletter.

Bennett served as IJR’s White House correspondent. Previously, she worked for POLITICO and Washingtonian Magazine. At IJR Schwarz served as IJR’s national political reporter since 2015 following stints at The Washington Post and BuzzFeed.

CNN’s senior vice president of premium content, Ed O’Keefe highlighted the unique focus of Bennett and Schwarz saying, “The tagline of The Political Edit – ‘for people who like a little Bravo with their C-SPAN’– is culturally relevant where, in less than a week, we will be inaugurating a former reality-show star – who is extremely media-savvy – as president. Kate and Hunter will meet that moment.”
