Ali Watkins will join the New York Times Washington Bureau as a national security reporter. She previously covered intelligence and national security at POLITICO and was part of a Pulitzer-finalist team that revealed the C.I.A’s spying on Senate Intelligence Committee computers while at McClatchy in 2013.

Watkins shared in a tweet that her focus will include covering law enforcement agencies, like the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

She will begin on September 18th.
