Nicholas Thompson will be returning to Wired magazine in a new role – editor-in-chief. Thompson is currently at The New Yorker – also a Condé Nast publication – where he serves as Editor of newyorker.com.

Thompson has spent six years with The New Yorker where he began as a senior editor. Thompson is a contributor on CNN International and CBS News. Previously, Thompson was a senior editor for Wired from 2005 to 2010. He has held positions at Legal Affairs as a senior editor and at Washington Monthly as an editor.

On his new position and his return to Wired, Thompson said, “There’s an opportunity for a magazine like Wired to protect the vision of the revolution and to make sure science keeps going forward, that we can all agree on facts, and make sure all that information makes our lives richer.”
