Blair brings a wealth of experience in crisis communications and public affairs strategy gained over nearly a decade serving as a senior communications advisor on Capitol Hill with deep expertise in appropriations, as well as defense, energy, health care, and financial services policy.

Prior to joining Seven Letter, Blair served as Communications Director for Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama and the Senate Appropriations Committee. In that role, Blair simultaneously led all internal and external communications for both offices. She maintained trusted relationships with high-profile beltway and national media outlets, as well as state and local reporters. Blair worked closely with the Senator, his staff, and senior Senate leadership aides to build and execute an effective press strategy for five annual appropriations processes and numerous emergency supplemental appropriations bills.

In addition to building public momentum in 2018 for the most productive federal funding process in 22 years, Blair was on the front lines of many high-intensity, crisis situations throughout her work with Appropriations Chairman Shelby. This includes the fight for border wall resources, supplemental appropriations bills for several natural disasters, funding legislation to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and address its impacts on the country, and international security situations like the war in Ukraine and the Afghanistan withdrawal crisis. Serving as the chief spokesperson for the Senator and the Appropriations Committee, Blair regularly shepherded Senate Republican communicators through intense policy messaging battles.

Before joining Senator Shelby’s office, Blair was the press secretary for Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi, where she developed and implemented digital and earned media strategies. Preceding her work on Capitol Hill, she was the communications manager for the American Beverage Association, the lead trade group for the soda industry. There she handled internal communications with member companies and executed general public relations and digital communications campaigns. Upon moving to Washington, Blair assisted multiple principals at a D.C.-based government affairs firm.

Blair grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and attended the University of Mississippi. She currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, son, and perfect dog.
