POLITICO expands DataPoint and Pro Tech teams with several new hires

POLITICO is adding two to its graphic visualization team, DataPoint, and one to its technology reporting vertical, Pro Tech. In an email to staff, POLITICO editors Marty Kady and Carrie Budoff Brown shared the news.

Cristina Rivero, former graphics reporter with the Washington Post, will join the DataPoint team to cover tax and trade. Rivero brings substantial experience, having served as a visual journalist for the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and Los Angeles Times. Taylor Thomas, former communications consultant with Hamilton Place Strategies, will also join the DataPoint team. Thomas will cover financial services, tax and trade.

Steven Overly, former Washington Post reporter and editor on the Post’s Innovations blog, will join the Pro Tech Team to cover the tech lobbying and influence beat. Rivero, Thomas and Overly will start in May.
