The Atlantic Names Vernon Loeb as Politics Editor

Vernon Loeb has been named politics editor of The Atlantic.

As editor, Loeb will help expand the Atlantic’s reporting teams covering the White House, national security, Congress and the midterm elections. In an email to staff, Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg and editor Adrienne LaFrance praised his experience saying, “Vernon is a true writer’s editor who prizes the power of relentless reporting and beautiful writing in equal measure.”

Loeb joins the Atlantic after serving as managing editor for the Houston Chronicle. Loeb also worked as a reporter and editor for The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Los Angeles Times.

Loeb will begin in early July.
