Veteran reporters Michael R. Gordon and Julie Bykowicz are joining the Wall Street Journal’s D.C. bureau.

After three decades of covering national security and military affairs for the New York Times, Gordon is joining the Journal as a national security correspondent. During his tenure with the Times, Gordon was the only reporter embedded with U.S. ground forces in the 2003 invasion of Iraq. As a member of the Journal’s national security team, Gordon will cover the Pentagon and State Department, as well as writing a column on national security affairs. He will begin in mid-November.

Julie Bykowicz will cover money, politics and policy in her new role. She previously covered campaign finance and served as a financial correspondent for the Associated Press and Bloomberg News. In 2013, Bykowicz was awarded an honorable mention in the National Press Club’s Excellence in Political Journalism award. She will start at the beginning of October.
