Longtime congressional reporter Erica Werner is joining the Washington Post as a congressional economic policy correspondent. At the Post, she’ll cover fiscal and economic policy on Capitol Hill.

Werner has over 17 years of experience writing about Congress, health care and politics for the Associated Press. She also served as the AP’s chief congressional correspondent and previously wrote for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The Post’s national economy and business editor David Cho and deputy business editor Zachary Goldfarb welcomed her to the team saying, “Her hiring is part of an expanding commitment to covering the most important economic policy stories unfolding in Washington and the ways they affect voters and companies.”

She will start at the Post on November 20.
